Duvet Covers
At Matarranz, we make duvet covers to order in percale and sateen Egyptian cotton from our workshop in Madrid. Available in every standard size — from a single 90 cm bed to a 200 cm bed — and in special sizes to order. We have worked with private customers and with hospitality and interior-design textile projects since 1911.
Duvet Covers
Duvet covers in percale and sateen Egyptian cotton, made in our own workshop with personalised finishes.
The duvet cover is the piece that most shapes the look of the bedroom. Its fabric, its drape and its finish determine whether the bed conveys elegance and order, or whether the whole set loses its presence. At Matarranz, we have been making duvet covers in extra-long-staple Egyptian cotton since 1911.
Duvet Covers in Egyptian Cotton: Percale and Sateen
The whole collection is made from 100% cotton, without synthetic blends. The fabric determines the feel, the drape and how it behaves in the wash. At Matarranz, we work with two main qualities:

Egyptian Cotton Percale: A Cool Feel and Durability
Percale is the reference fabric for duvet covers in everyday use. Its weave produces a firm, cool surface with a smooth feel that improves with every wash. It does not pill, keeps its colour and withstands frequent washing at high temperatures. It is the standard finish in high-category hotel projects and the most common choice for domestic use in bedrooms with heating. A duvet cover in Egyptian cotton percale is a piece that lasts several seasons without losing its shape or its feel.

Egyptian Cotton Sateen: A Subtle Sheen and an Elegant Drape
Sateen offers a smoother surface, with a subtle sheen. Its drape is more fluid than percale’s, and its feel more enveloping. It is the usual choice in high-end bedrooms, where the look of the set matters as much as comfort. Combined with fitted sheets and pillowcases in the same fabric, it produces a bed with a very polished, elegant appearance.
Duvet Cover Sizes: A Guide by Bed Type
The size of the duvet cover determines its side drop. A cover that is too tight does not cover the sides of the bed properly; one that is too large creates folds that spoil the look of the set. The standard sizes in Spain are:
- 90 cm bed (single): 155 x 220 cm duvet cover.
- 105 cm bed: 180 x 220 cm duvet cover.
- 135 cm bed: 200 x 220 cm duvet cover.
- 150 cm bed: 240 x 220 cm duvet cover.
- 160 cm bed: 260 x 240 cm duvet cover.
- 180 cm bed: 280 x 240 cm duvet cover.
- 200 cm bed (king size): 300 x 260 cm duvet cover.
For non-standard bed dimensions, extra-deep mattresses, yacht cabin bed linen or hotel projects with their own measurements, we make duvet covers to measure in the same qualities as the standard range.

Percale or Sateen: How to Choose Your Duvet Cover by Bedroom
The choice between percale and sateen depends on how the bedroom is used, its climate and the visual look you want for the bed.
- Bedrooms with intensive heating or in warm climates: percale. It breathes better and does not retain heat.
- High-end bedrooms where appearance is the priority: sateen. Its subtle sheen and fluid drape give the bed greater visual presence.
- Hotel use or frequent high-temperature washing: percale. Greater resistance to repeated industrial laundering.
In both cases, extra-long-staple Egyptian cotton guarantees superior durability over standard cotton, thanks to the length of its fibre. Duvet covers made in Egyptian cotton keep their feel and structure after numerous washes, without developing pilling or losing colour.
How to Combine the Duvet Cover with the Rest of Your Bed Linen
The duvet cover is the centrepiece of the bedroom. How it is combined with the other pieces — sheets, pillowcases, pillow shams — determines how the whole set reads visually. At Matarranz, all our bed linen is made in the same qualities, allowing every piece to dress the bed with complete consistency.
A duvet cover in white or neutral tones is the most versatile base: it lets you change the character of the bedroom with the pillowcases and pillow shams, without replacing the main piece.

Coordinated Bed Linen: Sheets, Pillowcases and Duvets
The duvet cover is part of the bedroom’s overall set. At Matarranz, all our bed linen is made in the same fabric qualities, so that every piece matches the rest in texture and appearance.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you make duvet covers in special sizes?
Yes. We make made-to-measure duvet covers for beds with non-standard dimensions: king-size beds, extra-deep mattresses, yacht cabins, adjustable beds or hotel projects with their own measurements. Always in the same qualities as the standard range.
Which is better for a duvet cover: percale or sateen?
It depends on how it will be used and on the bedroom. Percale is cooler and withstands frequent washing better. Sateen has a softer feel and a more enveloping appearance. Both are made in 100% extra-long-staple Egyptian cotton for lasting durability.
How should an Egyptian cotton duvet cover be washed?
Wash at 40°C maximum, spin gently, and dry flat or over a wide rail. Iron while still slightly damp, using steam. Avoid excessive fabric softener. Egyptian cotton withstands frequent washing at moderate temperatures well, without losing its feel or colour.
