Matarranz Family

Matarranz was founded as a textile business specialising in the sale of fabrics by the metre, as well as handkerchiefs, scarves, and shawls Over time it grew and diversified its core business into making household linen, until it arrived to where it is today: Europe’s leading home textile business.
Founded in 1911 by Ramiro Matarranz, it sold fabrics, suits, handkerchiefs and general textile products at its shop on Gerona street. The business expanded to other streets such as Gran Vía, Paseo de la Habana, and Serrano where, in 1941, they settled where it still stands today.
Philosophy
The philosophy and soul of Matarranz continues to be for quality values, customisation, tradition, and fair prices, always under the motto
“the customer is the heart of our business”
COMPANY HISTORY

- 1911 -

- 1940 -

- De 1940 a 1949 -
In 1944 it ceased to be an individual business and, although it continued under the structure of a family business, it became a company: “Matarranz y Cia S.R.C.”.
Ramiro Matarranz transfers the management of the company to his sons Julio and Ramiro; architects of strengthening the specialization of the company.
This trading company is still in force today under the trademark “Matarranz home clothes”.
And Matarranz settled on Calle Serrano, 30 in Madrid, in the mid-1940s.
It is currently the oldest store on the street and remains faithful to its facade. Entering this century-old trade is quite a journey. Preserves the original soil. Also the counter and tables.
In this establishment learning about textiles and touching gender are part of the adventure.

- 1980 -
The generational change has arrived again and Miguel Ángel Matarranz, grandson of the founder, assumes the direction of the company, promoting the business and the brand and consolidating it beyond our borders.

- 2016 -
Miguel, Ramiro’s great-grandson and fourth generation Matarranz, knows this very well. In 2016, he led the leap to new technologies and took on the challenge of adapting the business to the 21st century, to new forms of communication; such as social networks as well as the challenge of connecting with new customers who value the importance of the quality of home linen
On the website, the Matarranz virtual store opens, for the first time, this centennial store to the whole world, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

- 2020 -
